This project was a structural design
exercise. The site was assigned from the beginning of the project. The intention was to design an apartment combined with a public space. A hybrid structure between public & private.
Through references from Atelier Bowow and the Japanese archittect Junya Ishigami I tended to use the structural parts of the apartment as an extension for the public space.
The entire structure was wood based, specifically CLT. Cross-laminated timber is a relative sustainable product. Apart from that it is known for its tensile strength. This was necessary because of the floating nature of the building.
For the final jury I made a scale model on 1:100. This was the best way to show the relation from the structure to the private & public space.
